Excellent!

Music in the US of A is rather underwhelming for me at this time. Corporate control has reduced the spontaneity and creativity of music writing. Instead, I am forced to listen to formulic re-packaging of old themes and styles without anything new and fresh coming along to catch my interest.

So, imagine my surprise when an A Cappella group covers June Carter’s “Ring of Fire” and nails it in a refreshingly new manner.

Home Free has a novel approach to an old standard. They’re not attempting to mimic Johnny Cash, but instead pay tribute to him while still infusing their own character and joy into music they obviously love.

Back

And exhausted. But a great time was had by all. Picture will be posted tomorrow after my phone has had time to upload them to the cloud.

Did I say we were back? Well, we are.

And exhausted.

What?

Oh, I did say that.

Sorry.

I’m, you know, exhausted.

Weekend Plan

Yes. We have a plan. It’s to discover the Grand Canyon of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. It actually is not anywhere near as large as the Grand Canyon (duh!) but the pictures sure made it look beautiful. It reminded me of the Vermillion River gorge behind the granary mill in Hastings. My hope is to bring back some gorgeous pictures.

Oh, and we’re taking a route through Porcupine Mountain State Park. Supposedly not named after the animal.

Yeah. You got me. Sounds beautiful.

Okay, time for me to get dress and head out the door.

Update: Another thing: for not being a morning person Tina is awfully bright eyed and busy tailed this morning. It’s a bit scary.

Bomb The World!

Does Trump not know that nuclear weapons are not toys to eagerly be played with?

Donald Trump

Trump reportedly asks why US can’t use nukes

Donald Trump asked a foreign policy expert advising him why the U.S. can’t use nuclear weapons, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough said on the air Wednesday, citing an unnamed source who claimed he had spoken with the GOP presidential nominee.

“Several months ago, a foreign policy expert on the international level went to advise Donald Trump. And three times [Trump] asked about the use of nuclear weapons. Three times he asked at one point if we had them why can’t we use them,” Scarborough said on his “Morning Joe” program.

Question

Now that the Republican and Democratic conventions are done and both candidates have accepted their respective party’s nomination does that mean their names are on the ballets with no way to back out? Even if Trump chooses to withdraw from the election would his name still remain on the ballet?

Oh, and on a semi-related note: Superdelegates suddenly make a whole lot of sense after seeing what the Republican party has done to itself by letting the mob have total say……

Another Morning.

It really is amazing how mornings stick to a schedule. Any chance one of them might decide to call it a day and just stay in bed? I know I’d appreciate it.

Sigh.

Oh well.

Since this morning decided to get up I guess that means I’m off to work again.

Seriously. Do mornings have to be so dependable and reliable?

Waiting Impatiently

I applied for admission into the College of Continuing Education at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities Campus. That was over a month ago. Since then? Yeah, nothing. No word on the status of my application. I was supposed to find out on July 20th. Here it is the 28th and it doesn’t even show if my high school transcripts my sister mailed on the 14th arrived. This is very frustrating.

Cooling Down

It’s not as hot as the other mornings, but the humidity is still high, requiring me to cool down after my shower and before getting dressed or the sweat stains my shirt. Anyway, I’m running late for work, so this is all.

More Sadness

Once again waking up to news that is becoming too much the norm:

(CNNTwo people are dead and at least 14 others injured after a shooting at a Fort Myers, Florida, nightclub, according to Capt. Jim Mulligan of the Fort Myers police.

The shooting took place in the parking lot of Club Blu Bar and Grill, according to CNN affiliate WINK-TV. The call alerting police to the shooting was received at 12.30 a.m. Monday.

Police didn’t say how many shots were fired, but at least 36 yellow evidence markers were placed around the front of the establishment.

I’m not going to make any claims about the shooter’s religion, political, or ideological orientation. Too many do so simply for the furtherance of their own agendas. I simply want the hate and killings to stop. I don’t want to assign blame or reason. I just want it to stop.
