What a Maroon.

As a former classics major, it’s always fascinating to me to see mythological imagery that is appropriated by modern leaders. In this case, Trump posted himself as Atlas holding up the world, apparently unaware that Atlas wasn’t a hero. He was a defeated enemy, condemned to eternal punishment for losing a war against the gods. He chose the image of a cosmic loser to represent himself. Well done. And this is why you should read, understand history, and have a modicum of emotional intelligence as a leader.

Don’t Get Caught

~ Guy Hall

Several people have commented that they are unable to re-stack this article. It’s about the largest concentration camp in the U.S. located in El Paso. Our government spent $1.2 billion to put 5,000 people in a tent city. Three people have died, 180 are quarantined due to measles, and there are countless violations, including excessive force. I attended a vigil outside the facility and spoke with local advocate groups. If you don’t know about this place, you need to. This isn’t about clicks for me, we really need to shine a light on what’s happening here. Please share.

Will You Be Caught?

Ash In Their Feather Dusters

There will be no smokestacks, nor thousands arriving by railcars at ICE detention centers. But there are already reports of deaths. Whether there will be tens of, or hundreds of, deaths, it will be too many. And I will not be caught with dust in my feather duster. Will you?
