It was one month ago today I last did any exercise. I finally stepped onto the treadmill today and did 20 minutes at 5 mph. My heart rate shows I lost conditioning. I didn’t exceed my max heart rate, but I passed aerobic well before 10 minutes of running and spent 14 minutes in the anaerobic range. It looks like I’ll be easing back into rigorous exercising.
Oh, and there will be no statistics today. I’ve got to get ready for work.
So, some back story: my mom has a rare genetic disorder that is in the marrow of her bones. She was tested, and they decided on the best medication to deal with the genetic disorder. This disorder cause anemia. Unfortunately, it also causes severe illness for about two months. For the past two weeks, she has been sicker than the first month of being on the medications. So much so she was not able to take care of herself.
Thankfully she has been living with my sister, who took her to a medical appointment yesterday. There they discovered she had a heart attack. She was taken to the St. Croix Hospital and from there flown to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.
Well, after discontinuing the medication and giving some blood transfusions, her heart is stronger. Unfortunately, when they attempted to put in a stint and look at her arteries, her kidneys rebelled. So they had to stop the procedure and work on getting her stable.
Today she’s stable. Her kidney levels are back to normal. So, they are going to attempt a shortened procedure of looking at her arteries. Unlike last night’s, which was scheduled to last 4 hours, this one today is scheduled for one hour. They have already done the cleaning prep. We are waiting for them to take her to the procedure. Right at this moment as I am typing this, she is signing a release of information so they can get her medical records from Burnett General Hospital in Grantsburg.
If, as you read this, you get the impression I am calm, cool, and collected, trust me, I’m not. The tears are threatening – always threatening. And I picked a fight with my sister, for which I am now feeling ashamed. It was mean and stupid, and I’ll make apologies later. Honestly, the shame is immaterial to the fear for my mother, which was the impetus for my picking a fight.
Anyway, in whatever way your belief system defines the energy of love and hope, please send it my mother’s way.

Yeah, it’s been a while since I elucidated about my ongoing education. I have a critique paper due tonight for my Family Social Science class. I selected my study and read through it last night. Now I just have to write the essay itself. I also had a chapter to read in the text for the class. And a study on ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences). I have gotten through both of them and did my discussion and response post. Writing the paper will be no problem.
Nothing of import to pass on to my faithful readers. I’m just saying good morning. Oh, and finishing up my morning coffee. I guess that’s important.

So, a new Social Platform is looking to compete against the Evil Mugtome (Facebook). One point in this new platform’s favor is the ability to prevent people from downloading your pictures. Photographers will appreciate that critical fact. You want to get them out there, but you don’t want them used without your permission. Another point in their favor – easy editing of your profile. And I mean extremely easy. I already have a profile on the site, so I have first-hand experience.
Now, I don’t expect Evil Mugtome to die anytime soon. Hell, even MySpace still exists. But I suspect it will not dominate forever. And MeWe looks to be doing all the right things to compete with Evil Mugtome. Unlike Facebook’s meteoric rise, MeWe seems to be a bit more gradual, though by no means slow. And they look to supply a service to the people who use the platform as opposed to the advertisers. And there are some in-platform purchases you can make, such as buy emojis and stickers. And you can purchase a subscription page to support your business. However, there appear to be no ads.
Well, no ads other than for the platform itself. But that’s understandable. You have to drum up business.
