Running!

Running, running, running! I am going running. I am going running outside. It’s so fusk’n beautiful, that I am going running. I am going running outside.*

Morning All!

Testing My New Plugin

I’m playing around with the various abilities of Gutenberg, the plugin that is soon to be standard for WordPress, the server side program that allows me to publish my blog.

It gives more control over individual aspects of the page. I can control the settings per paragraph. As you can see I am able to have a different background color for every paragraph. I even get to choose different text color per graph. For the purpose of illustrating only. Trust me, I’ll not be playing around like this for every post. Chances are I’ll not even use most of what is offered, or do so in a limited manner.

I can assure you most of my posts will have white background and black type. Golly gee. This is going to be so much fun.

Color Me Surprised

Would you believe I set a new personal record for the mile? I know! I’m surprised myself. 9.19! And that was the third and final mile of the run this morning.

Rough Draft #2

So, I have this rough draft of a novel I finished back around 2007 or 2008. It’s hand written. Couldn’t begin to tell you how many words or pages. I have attempted to type it into an electronic file only to have my internal critic make the whole process painful.

Now I’m starting fresh. I remember the general story and I know some of the timeline issues I need to resolve, like one character’s illness. It appeared suddenly at a point in the book after other scenes were created that should have brought it to light then.

Oh, and now I’m typing it instead of writing it by hand. We’ll see how that goes. I’ve committed myself to writing 200 words per day. I managed a little over 400 for my first day.

I get in a hurry. When I write. My brain gets impatient and I find myself losing the thread. So, with the Mindfulness techniques I have learned I’m going to take it easy. Hell. The rough draft has been sitting untouched for going on 12 years. What’s the hurry now?

Slow Day at Work

Shhhhh…… Don’t tell anyone, but I don’t have a single appointment on my schedule this afternoon. So I managed to complete some paperwork (discharge summaries). Now, though, I’m twittering my thumbs. I feel an office cleaning coming.

Productive Sunday

Honestly, I had a great Sunday. Got up early enough to do my morning routine, followed by assembling the cart I bought from Fleet Farm, the lawn mower I bought from Menard’s, and building a compost pen out of fence posts and chicken wire. After that it was mowing up the leaves (We are surrounded by trees!) which required an extensive amounts of emptying the bag on the mower. After that Tina grilled up some pork steaks and we enjoyed an evening meal sitting on the deck and enjoying our hard work.

However, there are still many projects left for us to work on. Off to the side from the garage is a pile of logs, sticks, and boards that is quite the eye sore. It is destined to be dismantled, with much of it going to the compost pen, and others to the fire pit (the one I want to buy once I figure out what’s allowed). In addition to the pile, the rest of the area along side of the garage still needs cleaning up. There are flower beds, a collapsed rock wall, and various plants growing that may or may not be survivors of what appears to have been a few years of neglect.

Now, though, it’s time for me to go out for a run. You all have a great start to your week, Monday not withstanding.

Good Morning!

Just dropping a quick post shouting out to the few readers of this humble blog before I go for a run. Hope you all have a beautiful day.

New Plug In

It appears WordPress is going to roll out a major change in the coming weeks. It’s new editor is called Gutenberg. So, in preparation for this change I installed a new plug in to see if my site will still work. I’ve also switched to a theme that appears to be Gutenberg ready. Hopefully the transition goes smoothly for my blog.

It’s Raining

For the second time in April, it’s raining. Our first rain was Friday. Now today. The showers were bookends for the weekend. I had a rough week last week. I ended up feeling under the weather (like what I did there?). In fact, I stayed home for two days; Wednesday and Thursday. I still wasn’t feeling the best on Friday, but I didn’t want to use up all my Personal Time. I’m not yet up to stuff. As usual, I have acquired a sinus infection. I was warned by my Ears, Nose, & Throat specialist to expect a sinus infection after I catch any other illness. This past week it started out as a stomach bug but morphed into a mild respiratory disease. But the aches and pains were more than moderate. Now, of course, the post nasal drip and headache of the sinus infection.

It sucks getting old. As we get older, we are less prone to vomiting when we get the stomach bug. I did vomit a little on Wednesday morning. I spent the rest of the two days exhausted, sleeping most of the time. In my youth (though I thought of it as adulthood back then) I would vomit gallons of fluids up, once threatening to cause the toilet to self-flush. So, that’s one thing I don’t miss.
